Spring Term Topic

What is the Geography like where I live?'

This half terms topic is ‘What is the Geography like where I live?’ as part of this the children were asked to take some photographs or sketch their local geography.

We are now using these as inspiration for an art project, starting with a single line drawing of parts that our eye is naturally drawn to.

Kingfisher Celebration Assembly

Kingfisher Class celebrated their learning about the seasons and poetry by reciting poems by Robert Louis Stevenson, Walter De La Mare and William Blake.

The children arranged the performances themselves. They also had outfits to wear which were a refelction of the season in which their poem was based. As part of our shared learning of the seasons we looked at a painting by David Najar called Seasons Change.

We explored the playground and discovered items that we believed would help us to create 4 sections, one for each season. We will also explore the seasons as they change to continue to embed this learning.

Kingfisher – Christmas 2019

Making Christmas Decorations

Kingfisher have had an amazing time making homemade, biodegradable Christmas decorations.

We used our slow and careful cutting skills to make sure our split pin puppets were as neat as we could make them.   We used all our decorations on our class tree.
